FIX-linked Connectivity

With this type of connectivity, a technology service provider (a FIX Connectivity Provider FCP) provides technical connectivity with the SIX Swiss Exchange Exchange System.

With this type of connectivity, the SWX Trading System does not have to be installed at the premises of the participant. Instead, the SIX Swiss Exchange operates a Trading System Windows Server centrally for several participants.
Data is exchanged using the FIX standard protocol via a virtual private network (VPN).

As with SWX FIX connections, FIX Connectivity Providers are connected to the Exchange System via a virtual private network (VPN). Data is exchanged using the FIX standard protocol. The FCP must provide its participants with its own software application for entering orders.

This type of connectivity is suitable for participants who wish to operate as few IT systems as possible and do not require the full range of functional features.

FIX-linked connectivity via Bloomberg

A specific application of FIX-linked connectivity is the option, provided by Bloomberg, to enter orders for SWX Europe via an existing Bloomberg terminal. However, only certain order types are available. This connectivity option is suitable for participants who already have a Bloomberg terminal and wish to enter a small number of orders (i.e. make few transactions) with simple means.

For technical details of the various types of connectivity, see the document entitled SWX Platform and Associated Systems.

The Member Support Center (MSC) provides support in connection with the provision of technical connectivity.
